2025 Fall Softball

The Algonquin Girls Softball Program is dedicated to creating a positive sporting and social environment, where the ideals of good sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, and fair play are core, with secondary importance placed on winning. Our goal is for each player to have fun, while gaining a rewarding softball experience and developing skills in fast-pitch softball.

Fall Season
The spring season begins after Labor Day and will run for 6 weeks. For the fall we will be entering 8U, 10, and 12U teams in the Twin Valley League (TVL)

Levels of Play
SANDLOT (U6 Birthdate 9/1/2018-8/31/2020)
Sandlot Softball is a fun, mixed age program meant to provide our younger and more inexperienced players with an opportunity to advance their skills during the spring. This program will also include fun skills-and-drills activities, as well as coach pitch scrimmages amongst the players.

Sessions:
The Sandlot program will be held once or twice a week for 90 minutes.

Equipment Needed:
Sandlot players will need a glove, bat, and a helmet. Balls will be provided.

ROOKIES (U8 Birthdate 9/1/2016-8/31/2018)
Rookies Softball teams will play in the Twin Valley League. In this division players continue to learn the fundamentals of the game. More emphasis is placed on developing skills and learning the game. We may start to introduce kid pitch depending on the league rules, pitching will still be taught in practice regardless of the league rules.
An 11" safety softball is used at this level.

Sessions:
Rookies will practice 1-2 times weekly. They will also have 1 game per week on Saturday. These will be at home or in nearby towns.

Equipment Needed:
Rookies will need a glove, bat, and a helmet (with a face mask). Fielding masks are required for pitchers and infielders and strongly encouraged for the outfields.

MINORS (U10 Birthdates 9/1/2014-8/31/2016)
Minors Softball teams will play in the Twin Valley League. This level introduces player pitching and catching, stolen bases, and three outs/inning. Sessions:
Minors will practice 1-2 times weekly. They will also have 1 game per week, which will be on Sunday at 10am. These will be at home or in nearby towns.

There will be a great deal of emphasis on skill development and improvement, situational awareness, communication, and understanding of the game.
